I have no idea how I'm going to do this

Posted on 2009.03.31 at 21:32
I have an exam I'm not prepared for on Thursday, and I also have to prepare for the Interfaith Panel. Plus I'm sick, so I need to sleep more, not less. Oh yeah, and all of today? Got up at 10, studied a bit, ate lunch, went to class until 6, ate dinner, went to RA training (where they again didn't tell alternates what to do or where to go), and now while next year's staff meets, I have an awkward 1/2 hour before I have to go to our actual staff meeting, which are typically very long. And I have homework and reading to do for tomorrow, plus a 9:10 class I can't miss tomorrow.

Awesome.

Next week does not look too good either.

Emerson, when will you get back to me?

Unexpectedly sexy start to Spring break

Posted on 2009.03.23 at 23:14
Soooo, yeah. I got home Thursday night and did homework and emailed it in way at like 3 am.

I got about halfway through Slaughterhouse Five and it's the best thing ever. I adore short classics.

I hung out at Hanah's house with Sarah and heart-to-hearts were had and it was pleasant.

I've been hanging out with the family a bit, and it's weird being 18 to them and being 20 to me...but that's just how it is now, isn't it? It's all good, though the disparity will only become bigger as the years go by.

I listened to some great music, as loudly as I wanted. I excercised.

Andrea asked if I could pick her up from the train station, so (my dad and) I did, and we went to shopping and I bought part of Sarah's birthday present, Elizabeth's birthday present, and A Knight's Tale and some scarves. Then we Johnny Rocketsed it, and went to Elizabeth's birthday party where I failed at a card game, won at wearing a hat and sunglasses, and owned at drawing pictures and captions.

Andrea spent the night and we watched a "some people go to a haunted mansion and freak out" show, and decided we should apply. The next morning we gossiped about friends and getting married and my mom thinks Andrea should marry a prince. I do, too. Andrea disagrees.

Then we went to Santa Cruz to drop Andrea off, with Emily, Olivia and Elizabeth and there were many vowels at the beginnings of names, socks, scarves, bandanas, hipster jokes. Dinnered at an Indian restaurant and it was tasty but unexpected. And they had Bollywood songs I actually like.

Now I'm home and dad is yelling at me to go to bed and I am wearing dorky knee socks.

Tomorrow: SF Asian Art Museum, House of Nanking, and cute old relatives.

Importance of being Earnest

Posted on 2009.03.15 at 01:56
Current Music: E S Posthumous - Harappa
Anyone who wants to the The Importance of Being Earnest at the Portland Center Stage, I am going this Tuesday, March 17, to the 7:30 pm show. I'm catching the 6 pm Raz. The interwobs tell me that the theatre is a 9 minute walk from Pio square. Tickets are $20 for students. You can get them here. http://tickets.pcs.org/buytickets/calendar/view.asp?id=4251#bestavailable

Fun fact for Saratoga peeps: one of the main actor's name is James Knight.

Fritzman's Holi dinner was enjoyable. I also got a TJ's trip out of it, so, win. Work day tomorrow. But sleep before then. Yay.

I'm going to bring back the clever subject lines- this one was courtesy of writing/witching circle. I'm so glad I have that to force me to write non-school related things for at least an hour a week. ;p Yay Kelsi.

Question from the board of inspiration:
If you could sleep with one historical figure (or just a younger version of Eddie Izzard or whoever) who would it be?

I can't wait to think of a solid answer. It reminds me of that scene in Fight Club where they're discussing what historical figure they would fight. (Lincoln; skinny guys fight till they're burger.)

So the Emerson website fails at telling me what documents they need, but things should be in order soon. Hopefully my professor from last year gets better soon, and will be well enough to send his Instructor Evaluation by tomorrow. (Which sounds more like an eval for him and not me...) Luckily for me, Emerson is trying this new thing that is a bit like rolling applications where once they have all your documents, they go through your application and let you know once they come to a decision, rather than letting everyone know in May. This means I'll probably find out over spring break.

XOMG 1 more week until Spring Break! Andrea, facebook stalkerfeed tells me you're going to be around? Remember than project I wanted to commission yours and/or Emily's awesomeness for? We should talk about that.

EDIT: I forget who asked, but jagruti means awakening.

You know how I was on top of it earlier this semester

Posted on 2009.03.10 at 00:47
Current Mood: hungry
Well, I fail now. I am sooo behind, and it is terrible. This material isn't hard, but I just keep procrastinating and it's beginning to affect my grades. Fucksors.

I ban myself from wasting time this week. No rest until I ace my Bio exam on Friday goddamnit.

I'm also grumpy because I don't get dinner on Mondays because of meetings and an inconveniently scheduled PE class. So I cooked myself some egg whites and had a baked apple. Yes, it was just as flavorless and sad as it sounds. And some low calorie popcorn. In total: I am less satisfied than I was without dinner.

I don't want to think about housing for next year. Please, Emerson, please!

Just one quiz, one exam, and 9 days between me and Spring break. I can do it!

Current Mood: sleepy
and I'm still awake...

Remind me to get into Parkour once I'm in shape. Or just whenever, really.

I got some great noise canceling headphones, but now I just keep listening to music instead of working. Oops.

Also, I have girl scout cookies. Omnomnom.

I am so ready for Spring Break, holy crap.

At least it's getting a little warmer up here.

When I get around to it, I have an awesome idea for an LJ post. Hehehe...

Aiite, genetics homework time.

Emily's Meme! Comment and I'll tell you five things I associate with you. Explain them in more detail in your own journal and PERPETUATE.Meme!

Here we go:
1. Kushiel's!: One of the best fantasy series I've ever read. And way too much fun to gossip about. I don't know anyone who has read it that does not love all the main characters.
2. Jagruti: My livejournal name, and also the name of a character/fantasy story I'm writing. If I talk about it more, I won't stop. As many of you know...
3. Staying up RIDICULOUSLY late in your guest house: Mafia (& co) sleepovers! I miss them! Apples to Apples, writing in the pool with chalk, watching epic mini-series...
4. Explaining the plot of entire books to you w/o you stopping me: It's true, I don't care about spoilers. And I love the way Emily explains the plots of books. Or anything really.
5. House: My one TV show. Hugh Laurie kicks ass like Sherlock Holmes

The Oscars were on crack. Like, super. But I loved Hugh Jackman! And the James Franco short. Though the musical thing was weird. So was the romance montage- only because Twilight and High School Musical really don't belong in the Oscars. Sorry. Neither does Harry Potter, actually. And I wish Anne Hathaway had won, but she is awesome and I agree that she likely has many nominations in her future. I liked Sean Penn's speech. And the other guy's who won for Milk. Political, yes, but to the point and positive, so: points! Yay for Kate Winslet- I need to see that movie. And Slumdog. And, of course, love to Heath Ledger and his family.

...And it doesn't need to be said, but Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are beautiful. As is Anne Hathaway. And Penelope Cruz.
I relent- Evan Rachel Wood *is* Sidonie. She was wearing a gold dress and has words tattooed on her upper back/neck ... Can Amy Adams be somebody in Kushiel's?

Coraline was *awesome*. I love Neil Gaiman. The movie was so well-balanced in terms of emotions. I want my kids to see things like that growing up- I think it will make them better readers/appreciate-rs of art and literature. For realz. And there was a super promising trailer (like I have not been this stoked about a trailer ever) about a movie called 9. See the trailer, be amazed.

Excited for Sherlock Holmes! And Public Enemies. And Nathan Fillion is in some new show called Castle.. Inglorious Basterds, Angels and Demons, Harry Potter, An Education, Monsters v Aliens, State of Play, Whatever Works...

Supriya needs to be given Narco-Analysis test
Supriya needs to elongate the silhouette
Supriya didn't need to impress everybody
Equally vocal was Supriya who quipped - "Someone needs to give me a count before I start speaking."

There is also a Professor Supriya who teaches a capstone course on global studies at some university or other...
